The state of Georgia offers a complete array of choices in higher education. In fact, it has 104 post-secondary schools! From vocational schools and community colleges to prestigious universities both public and private, Georgia gives its residents many avenues for obtaining a college degree.

Two-year colleges offer study programs that result in obtaining an associate degree. Some popular two-year programs are offered by Andrew College, Bauder College, DeKalb Technical Institute, DeVry Institute of Technology, Truett-McConnell College and Young Harris College.

Four-year universities offer study programs that result in obtaining a bachelor's degree, required for entry into many graduate or professional schools. Some popular four-year public schools include University of Georgia in Athens; Georgia State University in Atlanta; Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta; North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega; Georgia Southern University in Statesboro; and Georgia Perimeter College in Decatur.

Technical colleges offer programs of study that result directly in employment in more than 85 fields. Such programs can last from six weeks to two years. Graduates receive a certificate or diploma. Technical colleges also offer associate degrees. Georgia offers a complete network of technical colleges and universities with technical divisions spread all over the state.

Each year, tens of thousands of students go through Georgia's college and university systems, gaining the knowledge and experience they need to complete their degrees and obtain meaningful employment.
