Illinois the most populous state in the Midwest became the 21st state in the union. Because of its location to the Great Lakes and the Mississippi river it has been a transportation hub servicing a number of diverse companies. Its diverse economic base makes it a suitable place to live for people of various cultures and backgrounds. In addition to universities Illinois reports to have almost 50 community colleges.
